079-Xian-CityWall *
Xi'an was the ancient capital of China for 1100 years and 13 dynasties and is one of the few cities with an intact city wall. The same emperor that built this wall also started the Great Wall.

The City Wall is the most complete city wall to survive in China and one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. It was built first in the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and renovated in recent years.

083-Xian-TerraCottaWarriors-Pit1 *
The Terra Cotta Warriors are really impressive. Whole areas (e.g. the rear left in this picture) are still covered to protect the artifacts so we are just seeing a part of all the statues. And this is just one pit (but the largest to be uncovered).

Over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and weapons have been unearthed and displayed. The life size warriors and horses arranged in battle formations symbolically guard the Mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Qin dynasty (246-209 BC).
