The End of a Folk Music home page.

This website is about 20 years old. I think it has run its course. I think it has had a good run. For quite awhile it was the number one result for a google search of "folk music". Today it is number 6.

For now I will leave the pages up but I will not be making any more updates. There are already some dead links since that is the nature of the web. There will be more over time. At some point I will just pull the plug and remove the pages. So if you want any of the information get it now. If anyone wants to make a wholesale copy of any or part of the site feel free. Otherwise one could always go to the Internet Archive.

You can reach this page with a shorter, simpler URL/address: folk.jg.org is now the same as www.jg.org/folk/folkhome.html.

I am seeking your stories, anecdotes, documentation, images, flyers, photos or any related material about Dobell’s Record Shop. For an upcoming exhibition in April 2013 which will run for six weeks. Showing how one record shop shaped people’s lives and the music of this country. All information will be considered for presentation in the exhibit but it will depend on space all will be saved to archive.

Answers to Questions: Having a web site doesn't make me an authority on folk music but many people send me questions anyway. I would guess that I can answer 1 out of every 20 I receive. Not a very good average. Rather, I suggest that people send their questions to the newsgroup rec.music.folk. There are many readers of that group and many know a lot more than me.
